Iron ore can be bought from the Grand Exchange located in Varrock in RuneScape and the up-to-date price can also be viewed on the Grand Exchange. At the time this answer was written, iron ore costed 193 gold coins. Iron ore reached its highest price of 400 coins and tends to increase in value periodically because of merching clans trying to make a profit off of the ore.
To create Steel bars, you will need x2 Iron Ore and x1 Coal in your inventory. While at a furnace, you will be able to combine the ores and smelt Steel bars. There is no individual ore in RuneScape that creates steel, so you'll have to gather both Iron ore and Coal. Unlike Iron, you will have a 100% success rate while smelting these bars. ;)
Iron ore can be found all over the world, in the form of rocks and other minerals. To be economically viable for mining, iron ore must contain at least 20% iron. Magnetite ore has the highest proportion of iron, at 65%. Haematite ore also has a high content of iron at 60%. All iron ore contains ferric oxide and it is from this that iron is extracted. To make an iron bar on RuneScape you must first equip yourself with the necessary ore need to create it. The ore is iron. To get these you can either mine it which will require level 15 in mining, or you can buy it off players, shops, or the easier way, off the Grand Exchange. Next you must take your ore to a furnace and click the use button on any of your ores and…
A single iron ore will reward 35 experience when mined, which means a player will get a total of 980 experience per inventory (28 items) of iron ore. Iron ore power mining is by far the best way to train mining for RuneScape free to play players although is highly competitive due to the limited resources available.

In RuneScape, if you use the iron ore on a furnace with a smithing level of at least 10, you will attempt to turn the ore into a bar. (The attempt is due to the fact that iron ore has a chance of failing - causing you to lose the ore and not get a bar.) Current solutions to increase the rate of successful smelting are: P2P: Wear a ring of forging - this increases…
There are various places; I suggest you consult online guides - the official ones from RuneScape, or other ones. One place is the mine south-west from Varrock. Another one is north of Al Kharid. There are others, too. If you want to take the iron to the bank, I suggest using a teleport. If you want fast mining experience, it is faster to mine the iron, then drop it.
