If you are changing a REAR tire , it goes under the axle tube below the leaf spring ( on the appropriate side of the vehicle )
Front tire , there are hooks / bars on the front of the lower control arms for the factory jack
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : On the front of the lower control arms you will see a hook ( or bar ) The factory jack is put there to change a front tire

i'd suggest twentys or twenty twos.
