Answer 2. Just outside the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were taght the gospel from the beginning. After their transgession they were taught about the atonement that they might know in whom to have hope and where and how salvation cometh.

Isaiah (Old Testament) taught about the coming of the savior. Prophets in the Americas taught the people to look forward to the atonement before it happened (Book of Mormon).
