The Surinamese capital city of Paramaribo is the birthplace of Edson René Braafheid [b. April 8, 1983], left back for the Bayern Munich club of Germany and for the Dutch national football team. Braafheid began his professional career in the football clubs of the Netherlands. Specifically, he was with Utrecht from 2003 until 2007, and with Twente from 2007 until 2009. During the 2010 year he was on loan, from Bayern Munich, to the Celtic Football Club of Glasgow, Scotland.
