The plantation where Washington was born was located between Bridges Creek and Popes Creek which is 72 miles south of Washington D.C. on the Potomac River. This is present day Colonial Beach in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He was the oldest child born to Augustine and Mary Ball Washington. He was born on February 22, 1732 on his father's plantation in Pope's Creek.
