Robert E. Lee and George Pickett were both native Virginians. Pickett was born in Richmond and Lee was born in Stratford.
Pickett himself was a General. But the army commander was Robert E. Lee.
Longstreet tried to convince Lee of the futility of Pickett's Charge, to no avail.
