The relics of St. Anne were reportedly taken from the Holy Land to France in the 1st century by Mary Magdalene to protect them from the Jews and Romans and the impending destruction of Jerusalem. They were discovered about 800 years later by Blessed Emperor Charlemagne at Apt, France. Although smaller parts of her body have since been sent all over the world, the greater portion of her body is still in Apt in the Cathedral of St. Auspicius.

Saint Anne is believed to have been buried in Apt, France. However, there are other traditions that suggest she may have been buried in Jerusalem or Constantinople.
