∙ 10y agoJesus submitted Himself to the cross. So essentially, God did. He allowed Himself to be put on the cross via Roman soldier's under Pontius Pilate, but ultimately it was his own will and decision.
In the garden, before Jesus is arrested he prays:
"And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying ' My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.'"
Matthew 26: 39
"'Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.'"
Luke 22:42
And in the Old Testament, the prophesy in the Suffering Servant passage:
"Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Out of of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities...because he has poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors."
