According to The Bible, He was crucified on a cross at Golgotha, or "The place of a skull," undoubtedly outside the wall of Old Jerusalem. Another name for this hill, in the language of Rome, is Calvary. The Bible goes on to say He was laid in a borrowed tomb and He rose again the third day.

It has been suggested that Jesus did not die on the cross, but was instead taken away to recover. Following the recovery, the story goes that he left the 2 tribes of Israel who'd he been trying to teach, and went to track down the other ten, who happened to be living in Kashmir, Afghanistan. It is maintained by some that there is more actual evidence that Jesus went to Kashmir, and died there, than there is that he died on the cross.

Christians, who believe that God preserved His Holy Word, consider the above story to be spurious and without any merit. Four Gospel accounts, early writings and historians tell of Joseph of Arimathea burying Jesus in his own tomb, which has never credibly been challenged.

The Bible notes two events that indicate Jesus had, indeed, died at the crucifixion. One is that the soldiers did not break his legs when they broke those of the other two being crucified next to him. Normally crucified criminals die a slow, agonizing death by asphyxiation, caused by the position of the arms and body; this death can take several days. In respect to a Sabbath beginning at sunset that day, the Romans decided to speed death by breaking the legs of the condemned; in this way, they could not push themselves up with their legs to catch a few short breaths of air. They determined Jesus had already died, so they did not break his legs.

The determination of how he died was the second event. They shoved a spear into his side, and out came "blood and water" (John 19:34). This showed, even then, that the heart had stopped, which caused the blood to separate into plasma and non-plasma parts. We now know that this doesn't happen immediately, therefore Jesus had died several hours previously.

Death would come naturally in crucifixion. However, in all four of the Gospels, it is recorded that Jesus died of his own volition at the end. John 19:30 states: "When Jesus therefore had received the wine [vinegar to cut thirst], He said, It is finished: and He bowed his head & gave up the Ghost."
Mt:27:33: And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

Mk:15:22: And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

Jn:19:17: And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:

Jesus was at Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. He was arrested in the Garden and executed on a hill outside of town called Golgotha or Place of the skull. We don't know if it looked like a skull or because it was the execution place that it was called that. This is the same hill called Calvary.

Jesus was killed in Jerusalem, he was put on the cross by Romans. His followers took him down and put him in a cave which was later made his tomb.

Additional Comments:

He died on a hill called Calvary just outside Jerusalem. A rich Pharisee named Joseph of Arimathea gave Him the tomb He'd bought to use for himself, since neither Jesus nor His followers had money to buy one. Three days later He rose from the grave. His sacrifice allows mankind to be reconciled to the Father.
It was outside Jerusalem.... on Skull Hill.

Jesus Christ died on a cross on a hill or ridge called Golgotha, which was most likely outside the gates of Jerusalem. (Matthew 27:33; Mark 15:22; John 19:17) Golgotha means (the place of) a skull.

John 19:16-18: "So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified him..."

Golgotha is also called Calvary. It was a mountain/hill just outside the city limits of Jerusalem. Jerusalem means "City of Peace".
