On its final voyage in early 1918, the collier USS Cyclops (AC-4) was travelling from Brazil to Baltimore with a full load of manganese ore. After an unscheduled stop in the Barbados around the first week of March, 1918, the ship disappeared off the US Atlantic coast, and no traces of it were ever found. The ship had a crew of 236 and 70 other persons aboard.
Suspicions surfaced because its captain, LCDR Worley, USNR, was actually a German, Johann Wichmann, and had an alleged psychological imbalance. But no record existed that he had acted to sink the ship, or to turn it over to the Germans, in the aftermath of World War I.
Abraham Lincoln was last seen at the theatre where he was assassinated.
Yes. That's why it was called 'USS'. Ships of the Confederate Navy were 'CSS'.

The cyclops was suspicious since the ram was usually the first to leave the cave, but in this case it was the last to leave.
Odysseus blind the Cyclops. The way he does this, is that he had seen some large logs burning in the cave. So, Odysseus and his crew had managed to lift up one of the logs and shove the burning end of the log into the eye of the Cyclops, which does NOT kill him, but does blind him.
