None of them were good, but probably the most notorious camp the Confederates operated to imprison captured Yankees was at Andersonville, in southwest Georgia.
Incidentally, more Confederates died in northern prison camps than Yankees died in southern ones. This was a result of northern vindictiveness and the deliberate withholding of food, clothing and medical care from Confederate prisoners. Not only more, but a bigger percentage of captured Confederates died. The Confederates could not even feed their own armies, but the north chose to deliberately starve captured soldiers as the just desserts for their wickedness, in the midst of a land of plenty. The north also deliberately went out of its way to locate camps for captured Confederates in the most unhealthy, exposed and cold places they could find - a peninsula jutting into Lake Erie at Sandusky, Ohio, an island in Boston Harbor, a low-lying half flooded island in the Delaware River, a malarial swamp at the end of a Maryland peninsula extending into Chesapeake Bay, and others. But Andersonville is the only one you'll ever hear about, and if you're asking for school its definitely the one your teacher expects.

Meanwhile in some places Black People rose to prominent places in the government. When congress finally ended the quartering of solders in homes and gave former Confederate solders the right to vote, they took it out on black people. Black people lost a number of civil rights. They lost none in theory but did in practice.
