Auditions for the Harry Potter movies were held in England. The majority of the roles were not cast through open auditions, especially the adult cast. Ron, Hermione, Luna and Lavender were some of the characters to be cast through open auditions.

J.K. Rowling sold the rights on the condition that all of the cast be either British or Irish, where all of the characters were from. Only characters with a different nationality, such as Fleur Delacour, could be played by non British or Irish actors.

Katie Leung received the part of Cho Chang for the Harry Potter movies, because the director thought she was special. The auditions were held in London and Katie was the only finalist who was from Scotland. The director was drawn to her because she has a beautiful Scottish accent which he thought would be a unique feature to Cho. She is also very talented.

All roles in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are filled. Auditions were held on November 1, 2008. Possibly look for a role in "New Moon" or other popular films being based of books. -IMDb Pro, Fan Mail Dpartment
