Over the years Daisy has made Thousands of these air rifle. They have made so many that they don't use serial numbers only batch numbers. Originally they were the (NO. 111 model 40) Red Ryder starting in 1939 Variation #1. In 1952 they started using Batch numbers. Around 1972 the Red Ryder became model 1938and is still made today. Originally the BB rifle had a metal lever trigger guard but sometime in the early 1950 everything went to plastic no more wood stock or metal lever. Most of the models after 1950 don't hold as much value as the 1940's versions.

That is not the serial number. It is the Patent Number. The serial number is found below this number. The Model 37 I have has this patent number on it and the serial number is 24071. I would also like to know the manufacture date of this rifle.

Before I would answer your question.I would like you to check your serial number again.The G Prefix to the serial number for the Winchester model 70 started at number G941900 in the year 1969.Is it possable that you misread your serial number?Please recheck and post the serial number again.
