There are several Companies that make barrels that will fit your Browning. In order to keep the integrity of the gun, it would be best to find an original Belgian made barrel with the proper markings. You can find a good assortment on the gunbroker.com website, but they do get pricey. Remember the barrel you want is a 16ga with three holes drilled through the barrel band - this is the sweet 16 barrel. For 1963, the barrel should read: BROWNING ARMS Co. St. Louis mo. and MONTREAL PQ. These barrels are for 1959 guns through 1968. Serial numbers do not matter.

"Sweet 16" is a model name. "A-5" is a separate model. Each can be bought in 16 gauge.

Be sure your gun was made in 1926. Only lightweight 16 guages are called "sweet sixteens". Sweets did not come out until 1937 and Browning never made a 16ga magnum. Likely you have a standard weight Browning 16 guage. Your gun should be marked on the barrel OGDEN UTAH if it was made in 1926. The chamber is 16ga 2 9/16. If you have a Sweet 16, the easiest way to check is the barrel ring. Take the forearm off and look at the ring that is welded to the barrel. Made in 1929, this is not a Sweet 16. It is a Standard weight 16 ga. Sweet 16's are the lightweight 16ga model and were not available until 1937.
