No, unlike the Sims 1 and Sims for PS2, there is no amount of stuff that can be put in a house. Just remember, that the house does get crowded if there is too much stuff.

As it is an expansion pack, you have to have the sims 1 or deluxe no matter what.It adds onto the original to make it better

Why in sim's 1 the baby appears right away instead of the mother being pregnant with it?
Well I guess they were not technically there yet with the sims and they in sims 1 they limited stuff but in sims 2 and 3 the mother is pregnant. For sims 2 it is fr three sim days that she is pregnant. Not sure about the sims 3. But my point is that they probably didn't either know how to do that or they didn't think of that since they where missing other stuff too! Hope that helped!:)
