Norway and Sweden are the two European countries that share a border with Russia. Norway shares a relatively short border with Russia in the far north, while Sweden does not have a direct border with Russia but is in close proximity. Both countries are part of the Schengen Area and have historical ties with Russia.
The Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, and Estonia (south to north) form the western border of Russia. Poland and Lithuania border the Baltic Sea port of Kaliningrad, which is physically separated from the rest of Russia.

Actually, continents do have borders, but to decide which countries border Europe could be difficult because there are many transcontinental countries. For example, one is Russia. Should countries bordering Russia (not a part of Europe themself) be included? Or only countries bordering the European portion of Russia?
