You can use the IF function to do calcutions based on conditions. You can also use SUMIF, COUNTIF and AVERAGEIF to do calculations too.

The IF function is the main function to do it and you can also use other logical functions, like the AND function, the OR function or the NOT function.
Rules can be made in Conditional Formatting. Some kinds of formulas could be said to have rules. All functions have a syntax, which are the rules that determine how they have to be used. The IF function can be used to define rules to get a calculation to happen.

Many formulas can perform more than one calculation at a time. A simple example for Excel is =SUM(A1:A12,B14:B23,D6:D32) .

You do Conditional Formatting based on a cell value or based on a formula.
