Arcadia an unfinished pastoral romance was written by Sir Philip Sidney
(1554-1586). None of his literary work (1578-1582) was published until after his death. Knighted by Elizabeth I, he was fatally wounded at Zutphen in the battle between Holland and Spain.
Sir Philip Sidney wrote "Arcadia," a pastoral romance that combines prose and verse. Sidney was a prominent figure in the Elizabethan era and his work influenced the development of the English Sonnet tradition.
