Traditionally, sulphuric acid is used at a strength of around 30-38%. However amazingly, a lead acid battery can be emptied of acid, neutralised with something like sodium bicarbonate and then filled with a solution of distilled water and sodium aluminium sulphate. This (astoundlingly I think) can work even better than conventional acid. I am not sure of the chemistry going on when this is done, but should you be interested, googling for somethnig like : lead acid sodium aluminium sulphate - ought to yield results for further study.

Anyway, to recap, the traditional acid on a lead acide battery is roughly 35% sulphuric acid.

Ok I think it is Alkine coz any time i c a battery it says alkine sorry if its not the info you need

What is a lead acid storage battery?

It is a battery which, as you may have guessed, used lead and an acid to store an electrical charge. Most car/truck batteries are of this type.

Sulphuric acid

What is inside a lead acid battery?

sulfuric acid and lead.

Why is lead useful?

Lead can be used as a pure metal, alloyed with other metals or as a chemical compound. Lead is a major component of the lead acid battery and is commonly used in a car battery. It is used in the battery of a phone, which is a very important material for a phone.

What are the uses for car battery acid?

battery acid is a mixture of sulphuric acid and Lead sulphate. Because of the high lead content battery acid should be used for nothing else but that. Lead is a commulative poison (is retained by the body so it builds up) and should be handled only in controlled applications.

What is the lead acid battery designed to do?

Well its designed to charge things like if its a wet type like a Car battery that has liquid acid then it will help your car run electronics and start. If its dry lead acid battery then it can be used in camera or a controller.

Is sulfuric acid the same as battery acid?

Yes it is you can use that or Lead Acid for battery acid. Good question.
