The Fifth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution enumerates five distinct individual freedoms:
(1) the right to be indicted by an IMPARTIAL GRAND JURY before being tried for a federal criminal offense;
(2) the right to be free from multiple prosecutions or multiple punishments for a single criminal offense; (3) the right to have individual freedoms protected by Due Process of the law;
(4) the right to be free from government compelled SELF-INCRIMINATION; and (5) the right to receive just compensation when the government takes private property for public use.
Number 5, in the Bill of Rights. This amendment is often used by people fighting eminent domain, which is how the government takes your property and gives it to a developer like Donald Trump. They usually lose, as modern courts tend to view the Constitution as having about as much legal power as the Dead Sea Scrolls, when compared to the political power of large corporations and rich folk like Trump. Very few private citizens have been able to fight off eminent domain proceedings undertaken by the government. Just ask the citizens of New London, CT who had their homes bulldozed by a developer so he could build a strip mall. Houses were torn down, but then the developer lost his financing, and the area is now a town dump.

the fifth amendment
The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides for due process of law rights of the accused and protects private property. It states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, and that private property shall not be taken for public use without just compensation.
"just compensation" (5th Amendment)
The 5th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution provides the " No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of the law. Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
It's not so much a term as the last phrase. The very end of the 5th amendment is "nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
when the gov't plans on using the land for public use, they must give the owner just compensation for it, and it came from the fifth amendment.
