I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but I'll try my best to answer it. Male horses, elephants, snakes, and many other mammals and reptiles use smell to find if a female is in heat or not. If the female is, the male will try to mate with her.
Most of the male antelope and cats draw the scent of the female secreted over a gland in the roof of the mouth to detect if the female concerned is on heat and therefore more receptive to mating.
