The rpk rifle was first developed in the 1950's. It was manufactured in Russia for use by the red army.
29 x 9 x 2.5 inches, 7 pounds
The Imperial Russian Army developed the Mosin Nagant Rifle between 1882 and 1891. In 1891 Russia officially adopted the Mosin Nagant Rifle. The rifle was designed by Sergei Mosin from Russia and Leon Nagant from Belgium. This is where the name of the rifle comes from.
The Army never manufactured it - Heckler & Koch did. No real reason was ever given, other than the claim that no rifle tested had significantly better results to justify the cost of replacing the M16/M4. However, defence contractors in the US have always strongly favoured companies who would set up shop in the US, which H&K has not done.
They're are experimenting on the XM8 assault rifle that's suppose to replace the M4/M16 family because its more reliable, lighter, easier to clean, and easier to train with
no spring guns have to be manualy cocked every time. Only electric or gas can shoot automatic.
