Either one can be removed but I recommend you remove them both, then remove the battery and store it in a dry location. Charge it every 3 months or keep a trickle charger on it constantly.
The battery on an Audi Q7 is changed by loosening and removing the cable. The retaining straps are then removed, the old battery removed, and the new battery put in its place.
The negative cable can be removed from the post under the hood that is attached to the left wheel housing. The negative cable is only about a foot long and is connected directly from the upper post to the negative post on the battery. It would be best to remove the battery completely if it is going to be stored for a lengthy period. If you place a trickle charger on it, eventually the battery will require water to be added to it.
The battery on a 1977 Corvette is located behind the drivers seat, in the storage compartment farthest to the left of the vehicle. To remove the battery, open the storage compartment door. Remove the negative cable first before anything else so there is no danger of grounding out the positive terminal. The negative terminal is always black, and has a - (minus) sign on the battery. Next , remove the positive cable from the battery . Finally, remove the battery hold down . This is usually a long bolt and metal plate, or it may be a strap , and the battery should lift straight out of the storage compartment. Be careful not to tip the battery over, or make contact between the battery terminals. Installing the new battery is the reverse process. Make sure to install the positive cable before the negative . This helps to prevent grounding out the positive cable .
I had this problem in the past, and only later found that the battery ground wasn't good. Removed black battery cable from the grounding point (opposite end of cable from battery), cleaned the spot where it was attached, and cleaned the cable end, then reattached it. Worked fine then. Only one possibility though.
The negative cable is removed first, then the positive. To re-connect, the positive goes first, then the negative.

I would treat the fuel in the tank with a fuel stabilizer and also disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery when in storage.

Remove negative battery cable and put something insulating between the negative battery terminal and anything that might contact it. Remove positive battery cable. Behind the battery (between the battery and the passenger compartment) there is a metal plate that clamps the battery in place. This plate is fastened with a bolt. Loosen the bolt until the plate can move enough that the battery may be removed.
buy the proper battery and the cable will fit, or replace the cable with on that will
