If you have the newer version of MS Excel (2007+), the wrap text button is on the home ribbon above the 'Merge & Center button' in the Alignment box. A spreadsheet alignment is commonly referred to as a cell alignment. This means that the text within each cell is in alignment in accordance to its settings.
You need to change the alignment format of the cell. Press Ctrl - 1 and pick the Alignment tab. You have various options there for changing the way text is shown in a cell.
The default format for text is left justified.
Standard justification for text is left; standard justificaiton for numbers is right. To change this standard justification (e.g. centered), just click on the corresponding text alignment button.
Text is aligned to the left by default. Text can then be aligned to the right using the options through the Format Cells, which you can do by pressing Ctrl - 1. Then you can click the Alignment tab and set the alignment to the right. You can also use the buttons to change the alignment.
