I'm not quite sure. I've been trying to figure that one out for ages!! This is what I do know:

In 1619, the slave population was 20. They were all in Virginia. They had arrived in Jamestown. In 1750, there was a total slave population of 236, 420. In 1770, there were 462, 000 non freed slaves. In 1820 there were 1, 500, 000 (1.5 million) and in 1850 there were 3, 200, 000 (3.2 million). I don't suppose you know the slave population for 1670, 1900. I also need 1700. Hope this helps. Sorry I couldn't answer your question completely.

About half a million, or a fifth of the total population.
