Yuri Gagarin of the USSR
Yuri Gagarin was the first person to orbit the Earth, and he was from the Soviet Union (now Russia). He achieved this historic milestone on April 12, 1961, aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft.
Yuri Gagarin made his one and only space flight in April of 1961. He was launched, made a little less than one complete orbit of the Earth, landed about an hour and a half after launch, and never left Earth's atmosphere again after that.
No human being has ever flown into Orbit before Yuri did. The soviets only flew their sattelites and put them into Earth's orbit. So we can indicate that: Yuri Gagarin is the first human being sent into Space :)
Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin 'piloted' the first manned spacecraft to orbit the earth, the Vostok-1, on April 12, 1961.Yuri Gagarin was launched aboard Vostok I from the Baikonur Cosmodromein Russia, in April, 1961. His capsule entered low earth orbit, and he almostbut not quite completed one full orbit of the earth, returning to the surface68 minutes after launch. He never again flew another space mission, andeventually died in the crash of a trainer aircraft.
Yuri Gagarin was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, USSR on April 12, 1961. He made almost but not quite one complete orbit of the earth, and landed 108 minutes after launch. He never went to space again, and was killed in March 1968 in the crash of a MiG 15 training jet.
