1942 was not an election year and the war was going on in earnest, so I do not think getting re-elected was a major worry for FDR in 1942.
Nixon was elected to his first term in 1968, and he was reelected to his second term in 1972. However, he did not serve out his full second term. He resigned on August 9, 1974. (He was also elected as vice-president in 1952 and 1956 under Eisenhower.)

The Constitution requires that the President shall have been a resident for at least 14 years. It does not exactly say that he has to be a resident when he is elected, but it is hard to imagine someone getting the nomination and running a campaign while living outside the country.

He led his country twice in 2 succession terms, by getting elected for the second term in 2005.
