When speaking with the British, they are the best. When speaking with the Germans, they are the best. When talking with Americans, they are the best. Or, who won the most battles? Or, who conquered the most land, area wise (10,000 square miles of conquered terrority verses conquering only 10 square miles of terrrority). What means the best? 2. When you study a book about a war between the Germans and the British; cross check those two books with a neutral book written by a US author, as an example. The German book will most likely try to embellish their enemy, thus making the Germans look like superior soldiers who had defeated an even more superior enemy. The British will do the same; they will make out the enemy (Germans) to be more powerful than they really were...and the British defeated them! Therefore the British are the most powerful soldiers. For these reason, the historian MUST cross check his research material with NEUTRAL writers. 3. When researching reading material, which relates to paragraph #2; consider the source: Who wrote the book? During the Frontier Wars of America's Old West, US writers often described Indian Victories as "Massacres." When the settlers or US Army did the very same thing, it was called a "Victory." Considering the source is being aware of biased historians/writers.
