The 9/11 Attacks were widely condemned by international leaders, in countries both friendly to the US and not friendly.
As soon as word of the attacks reached Russia, its security measures were raised, worried that Russian soil could possibly a target of terrorist attack.
After the dust settled, Russian leaders held a press conference in response to the attacks in which Vladimir Putin expressed deep sympathy to the American people, calling the incidents a "terrorist act, this terrible tragedy." The Russian President Putin added, "the entire international community should unite in the struggle against terrorism . . . this is a blatant challenge to humanity."
