In my experience I have found that Dells have a higher capacity for memory. While there is no "perfect" desktop laptops, the best choice is finding what works best for your needs. If you need additional memory you can easily get flash drives which are inexpensive to use and free up our computre to run faster.
How much memory your computer has depends on the size of the computer and how much memory you purchase, not whether it is a laptop or a desktop. Desktop computers tend to have more room for RAM than laptops because there is more physical space in the computer; however, it is entirely possible to have more memory on your laptop than on your desktop. It all depends on how much RAM you purchase and install on your computer.
Modern laptops use what are called "SO-DIMM" modules. These are much shorter in length than desktop modules, and are not electrically or physically compatible with desktop memory. Some older laptops did indeed use desktop modules, but these are in the relative minority.
Some examples of Random Access Memory (RAM) include: DDR4: A type of RAM commonly used in desktop computers and high-performance laptops. SDRAM: Synchronous Dynamic RAM, a type of RAM used in older computer systems. LPDDR4: Low-Power DDR4, a type of RAM commonly used in mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. SRAM: Static RAM, faster and more expensive than dynamic RAM, often used in cache memory and embedded systems. DDR3: Another type of RAM commonly used in older desktop computers and laptops.
The largest RAM upgrade is 4GB on a single stick of memory.
In a desktop you just slide off the cover and put the ram into its slot but in a laptop you will have a screw in the bottom. unscrew it and there should be a lever to release the modular and you can insert in an open spot... if you are going to attempt to do this either see a specialist or understand the consequences.
Google desktop consistently uses around 320M of RAM once installed which is a fairly high amount. Most computer users cannot spare that much memory all of the time.
A desktop saves memory in the CPU. When one wants to access information, the random access memory, or RAM, is used. The amount of memory a computer has depends on the size of the CPU.
A MacBook Pro does. They sell for $12,500 right now.
RAM (also know Main memory - dynamic ram) which is inside the CPU is used fir holding any data currently in use by the processor.Registers (which are a form of Static RAM) which are in the processor are used forHolding data that is being transferred to or from memory(RAM)Holding the address of the location in memory which the processor is accessing to read data from or write data to.Holds instructionsthat are being executed.
A Gateway 500S desktop comes with 256 MB memory. However,Ê you can upgrade your 500S desktop RAM up to 1 GB.
Neither is "greater". Laptop RAM is generally provided in a smaller package, called SODIMM, while desktop RAM is generally provided in a larger, cheaper package called DIMM. For the most part, any memory you can get for a desktop you can also get, more expensively but otherwise effectively identical, for a laptop.
The computer itself uses RAM or random access memory to do so. If you want to temp save info... You probably can on the desktop or hard drive then delete it when done.
