All draft breeds tend to be very gentle and kind, but it really varies from individual horse to horse. If you want a gentle draft horse, get a middle-aged (mid to late teens) gelding, as they are usually more calm than mares or young stallions/geldings
Most draft horse breeds fit the bill of 'gentle giants'. However each horse will have it's own individual personality and quirks, which can be adjusted with training to a certain degree. Just because a breed is listed a gentle or calm does not mean that all horses of that breed are that way.

Like people, horses have many different personalities. This does not always depend on what breed it is. People are always saying how big, draft horses are gentle, yet they can be fiery. Same goes with Quarter horses! :)

A draft breed is any breed of horse with a certain type of conformation that is conducive to heavy pulling power. Examples would be Shires, Brabants, and Percheron's. They can typically range in height from 13.2 hands and up, but most draft breeds start at 16 hands. They typically are heavy boned and 'bulky' in appearance. Draft breeds are called 'coldbloods' due to their slow and docile nature.
Most draft horses can pull heavy loads. Clydesdales, Belgiums, Percherons, Shires etc are draft horses.

A Clydsdale is one breed of Draft horse. If you breed a draft horse ro a regular horse, you get what is commonly called a "warmblood", which are heavier than regular horses, but lighter than draft horses.
