It's important to note that certain strings suit different basses and styles in a way that can only be determined through trial and error. For myself, as a lover of the Fender Precision bass and the deep thumping tones of the Motown sound for the blues style that I play, I really love the LaBella "Deep Talkin" flat wound strings in 110 (or heavy) gauge. These strings were made famous by Funk Brother James Jamerson in the 1960s. They're hard to find and a bit costly. However, I find they sound better as they age instead of worse like many strings, so they can be left on the instrument for a year or two. With most other strings, I change them every three or four months. That makes the "Jamersons" a bargain. Some instruments, a Rickenbacker for example, don't take well to such a heavy string. The LaBella and Fender are a match made in bass heaven! Rock musicians...stick to round wound strings for the punchy growl. Flats are best suited for jazz, blues, and R & B where deep tones and reduced finger noise are a real bonus. Doug Wolgat

What is the difference between Bass Guitar and Electric Guitar. What else should you buy with your first one?

A bass guitar has a longer neck and only four strings while an electric guitar has six strings. For both I would say buy an amp and most likely lessons as well, but if this is a little out of the budget, the amps is not needed and while lessons would help, a simple guitar/bass method book should suffice. An electric guitar is louder and a ''lead'' guitar. A bass,is lower pitch/sound to keep the song balenced. NOTE:if you wear headphones while listing to a song, you'll here the bass.

Do you need to get a special double bass paddle for an electric drumset?

The electric drum set is becoming more and more popular these day because of it's versatility how quite it is and it's ability to record. Most electric drum sets these days come with a kick pad that reads the double bass. However there are some that you have to buy a different pad in order to play double bass.

What would I need to do to convert an electric guitar to an electric bass with out buying all new set-ups?

Just buy a new guitar, but if you insist....1. buy bass pickups, and make sure they fit.2. buy a new head/neck with a 4 spaced nut, and four tuners.3. buy a new bridge, one with 4 string pass ways.all this for about 150 dollars, which is enough for a bassA:It is impossible. Bass guitars have lower frequencies and the strings are spaced farther apart, thus requiring a larger pickup. The length of neck affects innotation, meaning that a guitar neck would make the bass out of tune. Also, the neck needs to be better supported depending on the number of strings on the new bass. The bridge will need to be replaced as well, along with the nut. The tuner have to different sizes. You're better off just buying a bass guitar.

Should you buy a 4 or 5 string base guitar?

A 4-string bass guitar might be a better guitar to buy for the beginner. It is easier to play than the 5-string bass. The 50string bass can be good for more intermediate players. Because of its extended range, it gives off a better quality of sound.
