The most obvious answer would preclude electrodes that are subject to oxidation or rust. Since the purpose of water electrolisys is to split water into it's elemantary properties, Hydrogen and Oxygen, anything that rusts in the presence of O2 would have to be replaced at regular intervals.
Copper, iron, lead, and alumnimun would seem to be poor choices. I would suggest stainless steel, the high content of chromium resists oxidation and is an excellent conductor.
That said, experimenters in this field need to be very careful as to avoid igniting the gases outside of a controlled atmosphere The only thing hydrogen and oxygen need to explode is a spark, and pure oxygen, present in sufficent quantities, will make anything burn. Please be careful.

The positive electrode is a graphite rod (elemental carbon).

How many electrodes are used per inch of weld?

depending on: the type of electrode, and gap between material, and material thickness, and whether or not the groove is beveled... roughly 1 electrode per 8 inches for a cover pass, and 1 electrode per 16 inches for a root pass

How is electrolysis of water used?

Electrolysis, passing an electric current, through water separates the water into its elements: oxygen and hydrogen. When Direct Current (DC) is used, oxygen precipitates (comes out of) the water at the positive electrode and hydrogen precipitates at the negative electrode.

Is filler material the electrode or separate rod used?

It can be either including the wire in MIG (GMAW). In stick (SMAW) the electrode. Sometimes the coating adds small amounts of filler.

What is electrode function in mold design?

An electrode is used by the EDM (electro discharge machine) in actually fabricating the injection mold. An EDM uses either carbon (like pencil lead) or other material to burn the part shape into the mold. It's not part of the mold per se but used to make it.

What is the difference between mono polar and bipolar electrode?

Monopolar electrode is single electrode measure voltage with respect to grond ,but bipolar electrode is two electrode measures the diff. voltage mainly bipolar is used inorder to get high Signal to Noise ratio.

Difference between reference electrode and indicator electrode?

Often electrochemical studies are interested in one of the electrodes of the cell only. The second electrode is present to complete the cell. Electrode of interest is named working electrode or the indicator electrode; the second electrode is know as reference electrode or auxiliary electrode (counter electrode).
