It's a combination of electrical energy that defines the ringing sound, mechanical energy as the speaker or transducer vibrates to cause air movement, and acoustical energy represented by the pressure waves in the air that bring those annoying ringtones to our ears. ;-)
The ringing and vibration of a mobile device involves multiple energy transfers. At first electrical energy is converted into radio waves. The received radio waves are translated into electrical signals by the device. These electrical signals activate a speaker and convert to sound energy. Additionally the electrical energy can also be converted to mechanical energy through the devices vibration motor.
Electrical energy is converted into sound energy.
