In a 1992 Ford Explorer ( all models )
There was only ( 1 ) engine available from the factory
The 4.0 liter Over Head Valve ( pushrod design ) V6 engine
The 8th " character " of the VIN is an " X "
( as far as I know , 1991 to 1994 models had the same engine block )
The main difference between the limited and the Eddie Bauer is that the Eddie Bauer has two-tone leather seats and the limited does not. Also, the limited has chrome roof racks, running boards and wheels (2003 up). The XLT is a cheaper version of the Explorer. It features cloth seats and downgraded features.
Just push the button in the middle of the dash above the climate controls. There should be 2 buttons. 1 says "4X4" the other says "low range". You want to push the one that says 4X4. I'm a proud owner of a 92 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. You will have to be in neutral to get it to go into low 4x4.
I had the same problem with my '97 Eddie Bauer Explorer. As simple as it sounds, I fixed the problem with a bottle of Gumout High Mileage fuel system cleaner, which I mixed with 92 octane gas. I then refilled with high octane at least one tank out of every four. After 3000 miles, I ran a second bottle of the gumout through the tank. No hesitation whatsoever in the engine any more.
No
5 quarts ( 4.7 liters ) with engine oil filter change
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe the answer is ( no ) From what I have read there are ( 3 ) different engine blocks for the Ford 4.0 OHV engine ( 1991 to 1994 Ford Explorer ) ( 1995 and 1996 Ford Explorer ) ( 1997 to 2000 Ford Explorer )
In almost all vehicles there is a tube leading from the top of the radiator to the engine. The point where that tube meets the engine is where the thermostat is usually located.
i have a 92 explorer and I'm a mechanic.... u have an overheating problem.... do you see any leaks?
the starter on a exploder is drivers side near where the transmission hooks into the engine. it is up in the middle of the engine more or less but not too bad to get too.
On a 1992 Ford Explorer : The Mass Air Flow sensor is located between the top section of the engine air filter housing and the big rubber engine air intake tube
The 4.0 liter ( 245 cubic inch ) over head valve / pushrod V6 engine The 8th " character " of the VIN is an " X "
