The ciliary muscles which relax to help the eye see far away by expanding and pulling the lens and stretching it and contract to scrunch the lens up and see close up. By shrinking the lens, they allow it to bend light at a more drastic angle to focus on close up images.

Why does astigmatism affect your night vision?

At night, the pupil dilates to let in more light. Astigmatism is a distortion in the cornea that causes different focal lengths for light passing through different parts of the cornea into the lens. With a small aperture (constricted pupil), the differences do not cause noticeable blurring; just as in a camera, a small aperture gives greater depth of field. At night, when the aperture is larger (dilated pupil), the eye has less depth of field, so the imprecise focal length of the eye causes the image to be noticeably blurred.

Is the average size of a man's penis three times the length of his thumb?

No, there is no proven connection between the length of a man's penis and the length of any other part of his body. In the past people have also mused that a man's penis might be related to the size of his feet or the length of his nose but there is no scientific basis for any of these "theories."

How can you describe the structure of the small intestines?

The small intestines has a diameter of about 3 cm, and can vary greatly in length. An average adult can have a small intestine that is anywhere from 15 to 32 feet in length. The small intestine is comprised of three parts: duodenum, jejunum, and ileum.

How did the Leeuwenhoek microscope work?

Anton van LeeuwenhoekAnton van Leeuwenhoek (1632 to 1723) was a Dutch cloth merchant who made literally hundreds of microscopes. Although compound lenses were invented at that time, they were not yet perfected, and so Leeuwenhoek's microscopes all worked based on a more simple magnification system. Leeuwenhoek's skill as a lens grinder was essential to the success of his microscopes and enabled him to make what were essentially glorified magnifying glasses that could magnify an object up to more than 100 times. The Basic Leeuwenhoek MicroscopeThe standard Leeuwenhoek Microscope is composed of four parts: a small lens to magnify the object, a spike to hold the object in front of the lens (and rotate it if need be), a screw to adjust the position of the object and a large base plate to hold it all together. The object is impaled upon the spike, and the screws are used to rotate the object and move it closer to or farther from the lens. How It WorksThe object is held firmly in place behind the lens, which creates a virtual image of the object that is larger than the actual object. By placing the object closer to the convex lens than the actual focal length of the lens, the object becomes closer than the intended focus, and thus appears larger in the image created in the lens. The skewered object, in the case of the Leeuwenhoek Microscope, is held firmly in place behind the lens closer than the focal point of that convex lens. However, since each individual has a different focal length, an adjustment screw is provided to vary the distance between object and lens to make sure that optimum magnification can be achieved.

How does life help life?

science helps in your life because it helps us know the importance of the things around us and it helps us understand ourselves better by knowing the parts of our body and the different living and non-living things around us through the ecosystem. knowing biology, physics, etymology, neurology, cardiology.

If a convex lens of focal length f splits into two equal parts what will be the new focal length?

there can be two ways to cut a convex lens into two equal parts-- one, along the principal axis and another, perpendicular to the principal axis. If the lens is cut along the principal axis, then there will bo NO change in the focal length of the lens. But, if it is cut perpendicular to the principal axis, then the focal length will be twice the original one.

What parts of a microscope helps adjust the brightness of an image?

Objective Lens.

What are the two possibilities for an image formed by a convex lens?

Convex (I prefer converging lenses) lenses are thicker in the middle than at the edges. This causes the rays to converge towards the principle axis (line running through the center of the lens perpendicular to the surface). two images will be formed. When the object you are viewing is farther from the lens than the focal length you will have an inverted real image. This image can be enlarged (when the object is between the focal length and twice the focal length), the same size (when the object is twice the focal length from the lens) or reduced (when the object is beyond twice the focal length). When the object is closer to the lens than the focal length you are using the lense as a magnifying glass and you will have an upright virtual image.

What are the optical parts of the microscope. How does it achieve magnification and Resolution?

The main parts of an optical microscope are: the eyepiece, objective lense and light source (sometimes a mirror). The objective lense has a short focal length so it produces an image a little bit up the microscope's tube which is then magnified by the eyepiece. Resolution is dependant on the numerical appeture of the lense and the wavelenght of the light source used.

What is chromatic aberrations?

the variation of either the focal length or the magnification of a lens system with different wavelengths of light, characterized by prismatic coloring at the edges of the optical image and color distortion within it.

How do you mesure your backyard?

A long tape measure helps. To find the area: length times width. If it's an irregular shape, then you might want to quadrant it off and measure the irregular parts separately.

Does a measurement have two parts?

Of course it has a length and width
