County government is a form of local government that is formed by the election of persons from the public who serve as Supervisors, with each having a portion of the county as their area of representation. Each county has responsibility for divisions within their jurisdictin that may include law enforcement, fire protection, building and planning departments, schools and education systems, parks and recreation, traffic control and road building and maintenance, airports, and so on. County supervisors usually meet once a month in a Board meeting and cast votes on various measures and decide how to spend the public's tax money on programs.
