No gospel reveals any weakness on Jesus' part. On the contrary, it shows His power and authority over human weaknesses.

Certainly Jesus was human and like us He too faced trials, but remained sinless. Jesus was tempted as a man, just as we are. However, Jesus saw "beyond" The Temptations and understood these were to really test God's sovereignty and plans, which is and always has been satan's purpose. In Matt 4:1-11 Jesus is tempted by the devil - Jesus after fasting for 40 days is hungry so satan moves in and tempts Him to turn stones into food, however Jesus rebukes satan. He sees the true purpose behind this trial.

No human likes to suffer pain, and the night before Jesus was to be crucified (Matt:26:39) Jesus prays to God - "O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup of suffering, pass from Me, nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done". I believe the words "not My will" are the key ones here, Jesus always worked in line with His Father's will and was obedient to His Father, therefore denying any weakness in His humanity. After all He was God's Son, and as God's Son we would expect Him to be righteous in every way.

As a human being Jesus could have given in, succumbed to the human weakness to be spared of pain and suffering, but here again Jesus "sees beyond" His need and seeks to do God's Will - He sees the greater picture, He knows the agony ahead, but He sees the joy of salvation for untold billions of humans down the centuries.

Yes, Jesus was human yet He bore no weaknesses, tested with trials like us, yet never once failed. He was both human and divine.

Jesus overcame the world and that is the victory.

In The Bible there are 4 gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

All of them tell stores of Jesus life for 3 years - healing the sick, feeding the hungry, walking countless miles throughout the country, giving sermons, teaching his disciples, having power over the devil when tempted, etc., etc., etc. Jesus cried when His friend Lazarus died, however, that was not weakness. This situation arose so Jesus could show His power over death. He wept because of the unbelief of those around Him. He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane and sweat drops of blood, not because of fear of the cross, but because He, being the sinless Son, would carry the world's sin on His sinless body. Jesus was in total control and knew what He came into the world to do and did it all in love.

What does the Bible say about Jesus' divinity?

The divinity of Jesus varied from gospel to gospel over time.In Mark's Gospel, the first to be written, Jesus is a human with divine powers.Matthew and Luke came next. In them, Jesus is the Son of God, from his virgin conception.John's Gospel begins with "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is identified as the Word, and therefore was God.

This gospel even has Jesus deny being God ("Why call me good, there is none good but God").Matthew and Luke portray Jesus as the Son of God from his conception, but not divine in the way that God was.John's Gospel portrays Jesus as divine and pre-existing, from the time of creation. What gospel views Jesus as fully human?

In Mark's Gospel, there is no suggestion of the virgin birth. God adopted Jesus as his Son, when he announced this at the baptism of Jesus. Jesus knew that, although he had extraordinary powers, he was not divine, saying (10:18), "Why call me good. There is none good but God." Jesus was fully human.By comparison, both Matthew and Luke had Jesus born by a virgin birth, with Luke saying that the Holy Ghost would "come upon" Mary. Although these gospels did not equate Jesus with God, he was more than just human. John's Gospel states that Jesus was divine and pre-existing.

Did Jesus live before being born human?

The answer to this question seems to have evolved over the course of the second half of the first century.Mark's Gospel portrays Jesus as a human who, at his baptism, was adopted by God as his son. There is no suggestion here of pre-existence.Matthew and Luke portray Jesus as the son of God from his divine conception, although born biologically from a human mother. There is no suggestion here of pre-existence.John's Gospel clearly and unequivocally depicts Jesus as existing from the time of creation. For John, Jesus did live before being born.

Why is the genealogy of Jesus not in John's Gospel?

A:There are two different genealogies of Jesus, in Matthew's Gospel and Luke's Gospel. We know that the author of John knew the version in Luke because it has been established that the author of John based his gospel loosely on Luke's Gospel. That he did not use that genealogy suggests he did not consider it important, did not believe it or felt that it did not suit the Jesus he wished to portray in John's Gospel. Whereas Luke portrays Jesus as the human son of God from conception, John portrays him as divine and pre-existing. Verse 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It is not hard to realise that the author thought the idea of a human genealogy was too profane for this concept. John's emphasis was to be on the divinity of Jesus, not a claim to be the Jewish messiah based on a supposed descent from King David.

Why does Mark portray Jesus as fully human?

A:Mark's Gospel was the first New Testament gospel to be written, dated to approximately 70 CE. If Mark portrays Jesus as fully human, which it certainly does, then this was probably the orthodoxy of his time. Later gospels, Matthew and Luke, portray him as the son of God from his conception, and eventually John portrays him as divine and pre-existing.

What is the Gospel of Barnabas?

The Gospel of Barnabas now known to us is an apocryphal gospel from the sixteenth century, although an earlier, now lost, Gospel of Barnabas is mentioned in early writing . Nothing is known of the older Gospel. The sixteenth-century Gospel seeks to harmonise the canonical gospels with Muslim teachings - it presents Jesus as a human prophet, a forerunner of Muhammad, and not as the son of God.
