Considerable mythology surrounds this translation, including the miracle story that all 70 scholars worked independently and came up with identical translations. Whatever the case may be, both the rabbis of the Talmud and the early Christian Church considered the Septuagint to be a legitimate translation that was acceptable for use in worship.
