Germany was indeed more industrialized than France, Germany had huge iron mines in the Ruhr land of Germany, and huge factories in Berlin. :)
France has almost twice as much gross land (square kilometers) than Germany does (674,000 sqkm's, as opposed to Germany's 357,000 sqkm's). Germany is slightly larger in terms of population, however (Germany's population is 81 million; France's is 67 million).

France did not lose any land to Germany in World War 1, but Germany had handed over land (Alsace-Lorraine) to France after the treaty in June 1919 which they were not happy about as they had alwaus been enemies of the french. well that's just world war 1
