WikiAnswers is only designed to handle answers, but is better designed, and less ad cluttered. It is subjective. WikiAnswers is probably better than Yahoo Answers; Yahoo as a whole is more useful.

Why does Yahoo Answers give more serious answers than WikiAnswers?
The community there is more serious. Maybe they take better control over the answers given to make sure there is no spam and nonsense. Personally, today I discovered WikiAnswers with a Google search, and so far like it than yahoo. The reason there are more silly and nonsense answers here is that ANYONE can answer, not just a registered user. Many IP users abuse that privilege because they are anonymous. When an entire IP is blocked, other people suffer for their foolishness.
