Neither. Provide a few more parameters and one or the other might be "better" based on what you want to know.
Each has areas where they'd have advantages and disadvantages versus the other.
Yes. More than one, not including wildcats.
Many makers have made/still make weapons that fire that round.
Depends on the bullet weight AND the type of powder used.

No such thing as an "average gun". The .45 ACP fires a bullet at ABOUT 830 fps. A .220 Swift is over 4000 fps. A .22 pistol and .22 rifle will fire the same ammo, with greatly different velocities.
In a BB gun (Not airsoft) this is considered very slow.
Define better.
There is a model 220 single shot and a model 220 bolt action. Go to the Savage Customer Service website, ask for an owner's manual for your gun. They are free.
Have you heard about the internet? Start with google Search for Savage 220 A stock then click
There are no rebuild kits for the model 220. However there are places that repair and restore air guns (NOT Air Soft guns) look up air gun repair on the web and locate one near you. Also the Daisy model 220 (1965-1970) was made by Milbro of Scotland
A BB gun is an Air Gun. Now if you are asking is a BB gun better than an "Air Soft" gun that is different. As for better, well it all depends on what you want it for. A BB gun will do more damage than an Air Soft gun. But that doesn't make it better. basically an air gun has hollow pellets to a bb gun a bb gun has metal balls so they are basically the same gun but with different types of bullets
