It depends on the year/model/trim/engine/what catergory (payload, towing, performance, frame, engine) and your brand loyalty. Truck guys are very brand loyal and usually don't state facts. A good example is Ford's superduty were they use the (class 4) F-450's performance # and NOT the (class 3) F-350's to compare against the ram(class 3) 3500. The F-450 isn't a residential model and is really a commercial model. The Maximum rated numbers listed on their website(of any model/engine combo offered):
2016 F-350 2016 RAM 3500
GCWR*(gross combined weight rating) - 35,000 lbs 37,900 lbs.
*The max legal weight of truck/payload and trailer
Towing (trailer weight) conventional hitch/ 5th wheel- 19,000/ 26,500 lbs. ?/ 30,000 lbs.
GVWR (gross combined weight rating) - 14,000 lbs 14,000 lbs.
* The max legal weight of truck and payload
Payload - 7,050 lbs. 7,390 lbs.
Max engine power
Gasoline - (6.2L V8) 385 hp/405 lb-ft (6.4L V8) 410 hp/429 lb-ft
Diesel - (6.7L V8) 440 hp/ 860 lb-ft (6.7L I6) 385hp/865 lb-ft
Ram claims to have the strongest frame with it's hydroformed frame rated at 50,000psi. Ford's 6.x L diesels have had horrible reliability compared to the cummins. The duramax diesel are better than the 6.x powerstrokes and almost a good as the cummins, IMHO. All you have to do is go to a competitive diesel truck pulling contest and see 65% cummins, 25% duramax and only 10% powerstroke. Fords were always cheaper to buy(until recently)/maintain than Rams so their production #'s are significantly greater, so people think they are better(not true).
Stronger meaning? If you mean pulling power that depends on the engine under the hood. If you mean how they're built then I would say they are about equal. Both Dodge, Ford, and Chevy are all great trucks. Ford is the number one selling truck if that is an indication of anything.
dodge
The negatives of owning a Ford or Dodge or Chevy truck is that they are costly to maintain.
Ford trucks are better than Dodge trucks. Over years Ford trucks will last longer than Dodge. Today 20 year old Ford truck still driving on the road.
each has good and bad points,
depends on year try it and see
Ford
most likely not but maybe
It comes down to personal preference My dad always bought Dodge , his brother bought Ford or Dodge , my brother and I have each had one Dodge and the others have been Ford
No dodge lug pattern is standard and ford is metric
Ford=crap, DODGE+CHEVY=BEAST
