Which is better - The Sims 2 with nightlife and university expansion packs or The Sims 3?

Nightlife and University are better. The Sims 3 just has more violence and completely different controls.

I bought 2 expansion packs and downloaded nightlife and used it then i downloaded university and it says its the wrong one what do i do?
Use the nightlife disk (the expansion pack you downloaded 1st) The same happened to me but with seasons and ofb and I had to ask my dad what to do!!!
