The book by far cause it makes sense. 1. In the movie they were small. and in the book they were normal size 2. If they were making the last book of ember they would have trouble (you have to read the book to find out) 3. The book didn't seem that confusing.
I personally have not read "Peak" but I have read The City of Ember and loved it.
The girl and boy (sorry, forget their names) find a way out of ember and get out into our world with grass and sunlight. IT is just them and nobody knows about it yet and then the movie just ends as a cliffhanger!
