The Sun, by far.

The Sun is almost a million miles in diameter, while the Moon is about 2000 miles in diameter. It's a curious coincidence that the apparent angular size of the Sun and Moon are almost the same, as seen from Earth. But the Moon is 250,000 miles away, and the Sun is 93,000,000 miles away.

Moon, the earth, then the sun. In general, a moon is a smaller planetary type object orbiting a bigger one, while planets orbit a star. Our sun is a medium sized star, which is good because the star giants burn out faster and when they go you get no warning, and up to 10,000 nearby stars can be destroyed when a star goes nova, the most destructive force in the universe. But not that many die out per human year, and most are very far away. Like all life, they have a birth, a lifespan, and a death. Some theorize that planets are dead stars, and others think that both planets and stars are living beings with consciousness and awareness, like ourselves. "As above, so below" or "on earth as it is in heaven".

The Sun is far larger than the Earth. The Moon is only one-fourth the Earth's diameter and only about 1.2% of the Earth's mass.

Sun - equatorial radius 695,500 km

Earth - equatorial radius 6,738 km *

Moon - equatorial radius 1,738 km.

*About 1.3 million Earths could fit into the volume of the Sun.

The Moon is believed to have formed about 4.6 billion years ago.

The Sun's formation probably continued through the era of planetary formation and ended when it became a T-Tauri star. Its accretion from the rotating core of the proto-solar disk probably began just before 4.7 billion years, and ended around 4.2 billion years.

So the moon is oldest from when it was finished.

The Sun is further away from us. Both the Sun and the Moon can at times appear very high in the sky, just as high as each other.
