A gasoline engine is the hunk of metal underneith your hood most likely. Gas is very flamable, so your engine uses that flamibility to move your car. It the most common type of motor. Others include diesel, hydrogen, and electric.

The inside hood release is in the lower dash near the steering wheel column and the auxilary hood release is under the front edge of the hood at the center

The hood release lever is below the instrument panel, under the steering wheel, in front of the driver side door on the left. You need to release the hood latch to open the hood. The safety hood latch is in the middle of the hood opening.

The (emergency) spare wheel is under the hood, over the motor, with the jack and wheel spanner.
The fuse located under the hood in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe is for all wheel drive. If the four wheel drive stops working this is a fuse to check.
