Right! Most Diesel engines are built to move heavy cargo. Building engines for this purpose runing on gasoline would take a higuer cost.

Diesels can be more efficient, which means less carbon dioxide. OTOH diesels do release a fair bit of soot, which petrol cars don't do, so they're worse from that point.

∙ 12y agoDiesel by far. A petrol engine will normally develop more H.P. but a diesel will develop more torque. This is why diesels are used where pulling power is needed. Diesels will get better fuel mileage and are more efficient. But they cost more to produce than a petrol engine.
