Which is prettier New Zealand of Australia?

[Blueybearfan1] totally Australia. It has the great barrier reef. It also has more tourist destinations.

[Azziraphale] To qualify my answer, I live in NZ and have seen most of it, but I have also travelled around a reasonable amount of Aussie (only states I haven't been to are WA and Tasmania).

So, in my opinion, they're both pretty awesome, however, Australia is freaking huge, so it takes FOREVER to get between the things that are pretty.

NZ is very compact, so you can get between the cool stuff in a reasonably short period of time. Also, the New Zealand land scape is extremely variable, so you get volcanic desert plains right through to gorgeous alps, as well as limestone caves, geothermally active zones, beautiful crystal blue water on gorgeous white sand beaches, as well as stormy beaches with fantastic iron sands.

In Australia, there are some similar landscapes, but its relatively flat (Blue "Mountains"!), so the variation is not as wide. If you're into desert type environments though, Australia certainly has more interesting desert landscapes, and some pretty fantastic rock formations (Great Ocean Road, Uluru, Kings Canyon etc).

So, I think that while Australia has some fantastic landscapes, there's a bit too much boring stuff in between. NZ has variety wherever you go and can change markedly over short distances.
