I've never read Cannery Row but I have read Of Mice and Men and I suggest read it, it is one of the best books in the word, heart wrenching but far too short, one of the only books as soon as I have finished it I read again straight away.
"Of Mice and Men" and "Cannery Row" are two that I can remember.
